Rep Power: 23 | Acrylic burning feet I have a Sunvision that I relamped Februaryish and I have tanners complaining that the bottom acrylic is so hot they cant put their feet on it. I assumed it must be a fan out. Took the bulbs out and all the fans are functioniong properly. Is this a common problem in ETS equipment, or have I put too hot of a lamp in this bed? Any suggestions? (other than get rid of the bed? Its the only ETS I have and regret it) |

Rep Power: 23 | Re: Acrylic burning feet I dont know about the air. Its get the same amount as any other room I guess and its the only one I have problems with. I have ray of suns in there, 7's. maybe too strong for the bed? Do you mean a fan on the OUTSIDE of the foot of the bed? Because I have a body fan blowing on it. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Acrylic burning feet Sunvision beds have poor cooling to start with and the bottom has only 300 CFM using 3-4" fans. Most of the time these beds come from the factory with the fans setup as pre ventilation meaning that the air is blown into the bed and expected to be forced out the ends of the bed efficiently, yeah right. Here is a test, take a piece of paper and with the bed running place the paper over the fan hole, if the paper gets sucked to the bed, it is pre ventilation. If this is the case, open the bottom of the bed and flip the fans over so they will blow out of the vents. This is called post ventilation and is much more efficient. You can do this one of two ways, you can flip the bed over and remove the bottom skin or remove all the lamps and reflectors and get to the fans that way. Make sure ALL of the fans blow out of the bed. (except the ones by the face tanners if the bed has them) Make sure the fans are actualy being driven by the motor and not by the suction of the other fans. Stick a pencil into the fan to see if it has resistance or if it is just free wheeling along. Sometimes visual inspection is not enough. Make sure that the fan is spinning at full speed and not slowing down or vibrating which will cause the fan to slow down. With the bed on, looking at the fans the lamps will create a strobe effect and you can judge if on is spinning slow or erratic. If one fan is out, the air will not circulate through the whole bed, it will just be drawn from that point.
