Rep Power: 21 | Re: opening new salon There were several reasons I chose the Magic over the Matrix. The first reason is the Magic out tans the Matrix. Someone that has one can correct me if I am wrong , the Matrix puts out around 80 on the meter. My Magic is around 130. I have tanned in both and I liked the results from the Magic better. Second the Matrix bulbs last around 400 hours, the Magic bulbs lasts 1000 hours or more. There are 8 levels on the Magic that the salon can use. As the bulbs start to lose a little power, you can raise the power to the bulbs to bring it back to the 130s. The customer also has 8 levels that they can choose from. They can never go higher than the maximum that you set. The third reason is the looks of the Magic. The Matrix is a very good looking bed but it looks like a lot of beds out there. The Black Sun, the hp bed from Heartland, and others look alot alike. To me the Matrix looks like a big vhr bed. Tan America had the exact same bed as the Matrix with vhr bulbs in it. Some salon owners don't like the look of the Magic but when a customer has their first look at the Magic, 9 times out of 10, we hear " wow, that looks like a spaceship or something from outerspace". The fourth reason was there are several Matrix in my area and I didn't want to have the same bed as some other salons. It is the same reason I would never look at a Sunboard. There is a chain in my area that you can tan on the Sunboard for as little as $8 a tan. ___ _______________ |

We all have our preferences based on results, looks ,and a comfort level with your dist. as well as the Mfg. I personally prefer the Magic 636 , but as maddening as the decision can be remember your in a great position. Technology has never been better. All the beds have many positives to offer. Good luck to you!!!! |

I'm looking at some of their beds, Sunvision Elte 32, Solaris 442 and the Starpower 548, what does everyone think about these beds? Do they hold up? And has anyone had any dealings with their warranties? Thanks for the info! |

If you want beds that are going to work well - tan great and last a long time with little cost other than standard maintenance - look at TanAmerica, or some of the other mfgs out there who have a reputation for building quality units, with great customer service as well. In regards to the comments re Magic vs Matrix - I considered both in great depth before buying my Matrix L-33 and V-28... my decision was based on several factors, primarily service, reputation of the mfg, and tanning results. I tanned in both a few times - and personally loved the Matrix. I think when it comes to HP, and I am talking true HP not any of the hybrids out there that are called HP by their distributors and manufacturers, you also want to consider what the competition has and make sure that you are competitive and different at the same time.

If you get something that's lower in grade then even if it's new people may still think it's junk. You may want to consider even buying an existing salon rather than opening another since they will already have equipment and a customer base. You can always upgrade the equipment. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: opening new salon I haven't heard of anyone raving about the Acclaim. The Magic 636, Matrix, and the new Sportaraddo ( sp) are the best of the new style hp beds. I tried the first 2 and in my opinion, which only means something to me, the Magic out performed the Matrix. The Sportaraddo was a brand new bed and I didn't want to take a chance on a bed in it's first year. |
