A little advise
 

I recently acquired a new 6 chair salon for my wife which happens to have 4 tanning beds in them. The beds where not part of the deal however have been offered to me at $9000 for the complete and operational set of four with t-max individual timers and main control...

They are 3 Tan America's VIP 32Ho's and 1 Tan America s tand up Booth....

I guess I think this is a good deal but wanted your advice. All the beds where manufactured in 2002 but probably need new bulbs

Is there a way to tell how many hours they have on them? They don’t have the owners manuals for them and I am just starting to look into the this field

the ballast trays should have the hours on them.

It depends on the hours BUT TA can last a long time and make great equipment.

the hours range from 2300-3500 but I have no I idea how old the bulbs are. The former owner has less than a great reputation for having nice or new equiment however these seem to be in gret shape. I ended up buying them for 8500 for all four

like most hair salons your wife is going to be so busy with hair she will not have time or probably will not want to deal with the tanning beds. unless these have been a big proffit for the salon in the past i would reconsider leaving them in the salon. but $9,000 does sound like an o.k. price if the equip is mod hours and good shape.

This is a good deal. You can make your 9K back very quickly if you get educated in the tanning industry and market tanning the correct way and keep your lamps changed.

Yes I realize my wife will be busy with the hair part of the salon along with 5 other stylist that we will be employing... We have to expand because she can’t take anymore clients and our current salon is very small and only allows about 2 stylist to work comfortably and her assistant’s books are also getting very full. So to make more money we must get bigger, but I knew getting into this she wasn’t going to be involved with the tanning part. In fact to free her up I am actually going to be doing all of the business/bookwork aspect of the salon and she will function more like an employee/stylist/manager


The Tanning thing is kind of my deal which I pushed for to make me feel involved with the salon, since I put up the $$$ for it (by it I mean the whole salon, not just the tanning, I am actually a Realtor by trade and had some good commission checks come in).

My plan is to have our receptionists do the tanning stuff as part of their job. The space I leased used to be both a hair salon and tanning salon and had tons of tanning clients, I know because I also got as part of the deal all the tanning records from the last 3 years....

So to me it makes sense to keep the tanning, the reason the place went under wasn’t the lack of people tanning, it was the owner who ****** off all of his stylists with promises that he didn’t keep....but I honestly do appreciate the advise on this stuff, I will be relying heavily on this site to help me get stuff rolling
