I have a Dr. Kern 32 Stretch hooked up to a FST timer. It has started turning on automatically. HELP!!! I had to unplug it. I have had this bed for almost three years now and this is the first time this has happened.

Sounds like this unit is a bit bored, and wants to get going. When it's not tanning, get it to do some general cleanup around the salon, maybe some filing and other paperwork.

That sounds like a good idea Neon..Once I get this bed trained I will start on the other 12 and won't have to worry about hired help.

This isn't a problem with the unit, it is with the FST. I have seen this happen many times with an FST system. A couple of things that may help:
1) Ground your FST Switch
2) Make sure your phone wire on the FST is as far away as possible from high voltage.
3) If that doesn't work, call HAP at FST 800-243-7826. My guess he will tell you that the cause is static electricity and tell you to buy a Humidifier.
4) Oh, one more thing. Change your FST switch with another other room and see if it happens to the other room.

Change the FST in-room switch. That is almost always the problem.

Just like I said. But in my experience its normally not the switch only once and a great while.

Sarge, I've done service on this a few times, both times it was the switch. Where else does it happen? In the box? I have run new data line to the switches before, to cross check the wire, but that's always been good. Where do you usually look? Have you run into it where close-by high-voltage caused the timer switch to close?

Yes, I've had new salon on the install have a few of there beds turn on and off. It normally happens when another unit is turned on, there seems to be a spike or something that will cause another unit to turn on without time being set to the unit. Yes, I have had the switch go bad also. I've delt with HAP for years on this. I had one salon we couldn't fix for a couple of weeks even after installing a new FST, we ended up grouding all the FST switches to the conduit and then everything started working fine. I don't know the reason for it, but it does happen it seems more often with kern equipment. We use to sell them and the by-pass leg on these beds are 110v on each leg and actually 220 leg to leg. .5amps though and I think that too can be an issue. And one of HAPs answers for many times is static electricity. I never bought that one.
