Rep Power: 0 | Can someone please tell me how to properly change my lamps? I own a canopy which I use for home use, I already have the right bulbs for it, but I have never done this before. Can I just change them out or do I really have to use meters and all of that? Please help! I appreciate any help someone can offer. |

Rep Power: 23 | If you don't care how much UV output they have when new and how much as they age, then yes you don't "really have to use meters and all of that". It would be kinda like getting an oil change for your car and not recording the mileage or date. It would be kinda like buying a carton of milk without an expiration date. Just keep drinking it until it stinks. |

Rep Power: 0 | Thanks for the input. Those comparisons seem to refer more to WHEN I should change the bulbs. I guess I should be more specific in asking: Should I replace the starter? Do I need to clean the new bulbs before installing? If my acrylic is not cloudy or scratched, is there any need to replace it just due to age? When I install the bulbs, can I tan immediately afterwards or should I let it run a certain amount of time before tanning? Would you professionals really recommend me dropping off a bunch of money on a UV meter to check a canopy that I'm using for home use?! Would simply replacing the bulbs and using it be harmful in any way to the canopy or myself? Maybe someone could give me the actual steps required in changing bulbs. I'm new at this and would appreciate some genuine help. |

Rep Power: 30 | You really do not need a meter for your home tanning unit. Starters should be changed every other lamp change. You do not "need" to clean the lamps prior to putting them in the bed, but some people like to wipe them down. You can tan immediately after the lamp change, but you may need to adjust the time of your tan. The changing of the acrylic depends on how long you have used the bed without changing it. Hope this helps |
