I have the Heartland Ovations 134 and want to relamp them from the Everglo that come with them. I have heard good things about the Comolux VLR, but my state is regulated and I would have to change the configuration of the bed from a 20 minute to a 15 minute bed - which would be more $$$.

Is there a great 20 minute lamp out there that will make my customers love them?? They hate the Everglo!!

thanks with any comments

Mark

It will cost you $165 for a new power board and exposure schedule according to Heartland to upgrade your bed to 15 min. This may be money well spent for the busy season IMO.

I recently opened up a Salon and decided to go with Heartland 134 without the facials. I really like the way they look etc and have read good things about them and the company., but as far as out put they really are not doing great. I have tanned in my years and I know that when I get in a bed that has new lamps it should really cook me. But from day one these really havent. Which got me worried and thus I added buck boosters on all the beds do to the fact that we have 3 phase electrial. Still really did get me that red. Never have they performed well at all!

I bought a UV meter and they were all at about 24 when I first got them and now they are 20 to 21.

Now all the beds have about 150 hours on them and some customers are coming out feeling like they didnt get anything. The lamps we are using are the ones that came with the beds. Ever glow H4C8-71/100 - do these just suck and need to be replaced. It kills me that I bought brand new beds just to have the lamps replaced!!

What can I do?? thanks with any input!!

Mark

That I did check - my electrical guy who did the work is really good. He had to go back and check out every buck booster - the guy who originally hooked up the boosters, who is a Heartland person - didnt even GROUND the boosters. I would have NEVER passed inspection.

First off, why do you want to get red?

Next, I have 3 of these beds plus other Heartland beds and LOVE them. My 134s are also the 15 min version and also use the VLR Cosmolux. If you are in a state that requires lamp compatibility, you can not use a 15 minute lamp in a 20 minute bed. I have used the EverGlo and Velocity in my Heartland 20 minute beds and both did fine.

I might have mis spoke - its not really the redness as it is of a feeling like you just came out of a tanning bed...with these lamps you get a feeling "Was I just in a tanning bed for 20 minutes???" Hope you know what I am saying. I have tanned for years and if any bed that I have gotten in had NEW lamps I would not be able to stay in for 20 minutes because of getting too much - not with the 134 with the lamps I got.

We're considering buying these and have a standing order for a few to add Level 2 beds to our existing salon. So, is everyone happy with the 34/3 15 minutes version? There's no way I'm dropping a few $$k to rebulb a new bed.

Listen, it seems to me that nobody is answering the question you are asking. I have ALL Heartland Equipment, and have the 134/3 VLR (15 min. version with reflectors and 3 facials). The bed you have is a 20 minute bed, and doesnt have reflectors or facial lamps. It is basically the same thing as a regular ovation 128, but with 6 more lamps. Now that you know that, and you know that your clients are demanding a little more UVB (wich causes a little reddenning) -you need to choose a lamp that fits that. Call John @ URI (Ultra Violet Resources), and tell him what you think you need, and he will steer you in the right direction. If you want my recommendation, I say you use Desert Sun lamps by Light Sources, or Hi-Tan by cosmedico. These are the lamps we put in our regular beds, and they absolutely kick azz. When I bought my beds from heartland, they came with Ever Glo lamps in them, which I ended up throwing away after a month- cuz they sucked!! You get the best bang for your buck with the Light Sources brand..... JMHO

You can't go wrong with the 34/3 , the acrylics are easy to remove & so are the facials. My clients love this bed. It is the 15 min. It will last a very long time.

I wonder if he can change the chip in it to a 15 min. ???

JMHO

We're considering buying these and have a standing order for a few to add Level 2 beds to our existing salon. So, is everyone happy with the 34/3 15 minutes version? There's no way I'm dropping a few $$k to rebulb a new bed.

You can't go wrong with the 34/3 , the acrylics are easy to remove & so are the facials. My clients love this bed. It is the 15 min. It will last a very long time.

I wonder if he can change the chip in it to a 15 min. ???

I guess my new question is to re-lamp the 20 minute bed or try and switch it out to the 15 minute version - I have to do the math....

thanks

go with the 15 min bed , just change out the chip and put in the VLR TT , they will love it & come back for more.

SO YOU ARE SAYING THAT IF YOUR STATE IS NOT REGULATED, YOU STILL HAVE TO CHANGE THE CHIP IN THE 20 MIN BED TO USE A 15 MIN BULB?
