I was given a home tanning bed and one of the lamps doesn't work. I put the lamp in another lamp holder and it worked, so it is not the lamp. I have the bench apart because I am cleaning it and I see the ballasts but where are the starters? Do all beds have starters?
It is an ESB Elite Model bed.

Do you see a bunch of little white silo looking things? One at the end of each lamp?

Ok you have starters then. That's them. Good luck.

I'm not sure about that. It is the thing where the lamp goes in and twists. Nothing else is there. Not the S12 starters I have seen mentioned in other posts.

I suppose I should have said "cyllindrical" looking thingy. Forgive me. Lamp holders are too easily mistaken for "silo looking thingys". I give.

ESB'S normally have electronic ballast and wouldn't have starters.

Thanks Sarge,

That was all I was trying to get an answer for. So, the ballast has a problem in the part that controls that one lamp??? Or can it be one of the lamp holders not making a good connection?

Most likely its the ballast. Sometimes depending on the year of the unit there will be a fuse on the ballast, check that first. You can also switch a ballast and see if diffrent lamps go out. Makue sure the power is off and when you take the ballast out you don't touch it to any exposed metal as they still hold a little juice.
