I have two ZX32 beds with internal timers (digital). On the bed in question, the keypad itself works and can start/stop the bed and change minutes when set up as a stand-alone bed. However, when connecting it to a tmax manager, the manager does not see the bed at all, and vice-versa. I swapped the internal timer from the working bed to the problem bed and then the manager sees it OK. This pretty much eliminates all internal/external wiring issues. Does this mean I for sure have a bad timer? If so, can I bypass the internal timer and use a tmax 3a timer in place of it?

Just trying to avoid $400 for a new timer...

Thanks.

The timer brain and key pad are very expensive for these units and are know to have problems. Most of the time when you replace the timer brain you need to replace the key pad also because they need to match up. I would just do as you said and put a 3A timer in for this room to save you money. You will need to move your phone wire now where ever you want your switch and also have a 2 conductor wire going from the T-max to the back of your unit to the by-pass. PM me if you need additional help. Jeff

I will try using an external tmax 3a to see if I can work around it, but may need some help on it.

Thanks for the reply!

To connect these beds to a remote timer, I am assuming you would use the middle pair of the RJ22 (red/black) and wire to the 3A? Using this method, do I set the bed with one ID and the new 3A with it's own ID? Just new to these timers, so I don't know all the settings for them.

Thanks,

Lee, I'm not exactly sure what you will need to do since your using one unit with a separate 3a in your daisy chain. you can call 800-449-3605 and ask for someone with good knowledge of the T-max wiring and programing for the ZX 30. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Jeff

I would try connecting your manager directly to the bed first and see if it scans. If it does, then you know the issue is in the network cords/jacks. If it doesn't scan, then it could be a bad comm chip, or a bad brain board like Sarge said. Also check to make sure the bed has the correct station address. Good luck.
