I need to find something that I can put on the metal supports that the acrylic rests on to give a little cushion and protection for my acrylic. I called the bed manufacturer, they sell a buffer for this but they are like $9-10 for each strip, bunch of strips in each bed times each bed adds up to more money than I want to spend. Do any of you know anything that I can get at a hardware store or somewhere that will work for this????

yeah. You should be able to find basically the same thing at ANY larger hardware store. Something like a weather stripping that's kinda squishy.

I wouldn't think you'd want squishy? Excessive movement is what causes stress and therefore cracking. No?

It does not have to be really squishy but a wheather sealer would be fine. Some sort of thin rubber molding.

Thats what I did with two of my beds. Went over to good ol Wally World, and picked up some foam rubber weather stripping about 1/4" wide, and it worked perfect!!!

You will need to replace them often if they can't handle the UV light and the heat, but for the cost it seems to be worth it if it saves on acrylics breaking.

Puretan and many others use a plastic strip similar to a "door edge" molding. In Fact the "Door Edge" molding i got from my local Autozone Auto Parts Center fit almost exactly like the original parts. Try it Chrome looks great even after two years and thousands of tans.

Silicone tubing. It has to be the rubbery silicone tubing though. You can usually find it at fish stores or tubing supply places. Home Depot, Lowes, Etc usually doesn't carry it. Fish stores can usually special order it for you at about $10-20 a roll.
