Hi, im new to tanning, I tried it about 2 years back then got away, and now i want to come back, mainly because im tired of being so pale =P

I was just wondering what is better or easier, i know the stand ups are faster, but are they better or just as good? i've tried both, being new, obviously i thought i should... and im not really sure which one to go for... i've been told the stand ups are faster for time, but cost more to use, and the beds are better for starting out...

so any help would be great...
thanks

Honestly, try everything if you can. Just cause the upgrades are bigger and faster doesn't mean you can't use them. Also, the standup is good if you are in a rush. Already on your feet and ready to go.

The problem with stand-up booths is that they are expensive to relamp and people let them go forever.

We have found that our Ergoline Classic 600 with the 140W ballasts can only run about 250 hours on a set of Cosmolux VHR TT or Wolff Bronzing Sun lamps.

We put new lamps in the Classic 600 and rotate the 250 hour lamps into our SunDazzler Standup which has 160W ballasts.

The lamps really kick butt in the standup for another 250 hours or so and then we go through the cycle again.

Seems to work for us and everyone really likes both units. The Classic 600 was rather slow early in the season but is near capacity now.

I do not know but I suspect that the 140W ballasts in the Classic 600 might not be aging the lamps as fast as the SunDazzler does with 160W ballasts. Anybody know for sure?

At the most, we are leaving lamps in the SunDazzler for a max of 500 hours or so. Well within the prime output and life of that series and quality of bulb.

The 140W ballast is a NON-STANDARD arrangement for most lamp wattages. That Ergo bed won't get the best performance possible from a 160W lamp, but will over drive a 100W lamp. If they truly have 140W ballast's in them, I don't understand what their logic was. There isn't really a STANDARD design lamp that will be a 'best fit' for them.

You really should stop relying on TIME to determine when to change your lamps. You should get a UV meter and measure their output, to determine when to change them out.

My post doesn't mention the fact that I do meter the lamps. The hours mentioned above are approximate as referenced by the "about" word placed before the number word.
