Rep Power: 25 | You may want to purchase some rubber strips to put over your supports. This does help for some customers. The problem with the acrylics, isn't the MFG of the acrylic, its the design of the unit in my opinion. There's not much you can do on it. Try going to a local hardware and buying some clear air hose and spliting down the middle with a razor blade. Put this over your support strips. You will need to change them every couple of months due to the heat. I'm working on some good stuff now for these strips but haven't received the correct type yet. PM if you have more questions or need any other help. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Acrylic problems First Post here. I have 10 beds in my salon, 3 are Dr. Kern 32 bulb classics. Went to change the bulbs for the first time a couple days ago and two of the canopy acrylics just broker off in my hands in the same place. I know a lot of people have had problems with the acrylics in these beds and Steve at Dr. Kern says that it was a problem with 200 beds that were made in 2002 or 2003 and if my bed was defective like those I would've broken at lease 6 acrylics by now. Is this a line of B.S. or are the rest of you having problems when you go ahead and remove the acrylic? It is very frustrating to say the lease. I have never had a problem with my puretan beds breaking like that. |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Acrylic problems The canopy acrylics in those units were and are made of 080 material which is very thin. I had suncorp make a molded acrylic out of 100 material and I haven't heard of one breaking yet. With the 080 material it is very thin and the only way not to break them is pull down on the acrylic strip (ONLY ABOUT AN INCH), just enough to get you finger between the acrylic and the bed frame. While holding the acrylic strip with one hand run your finger down the length of the acrylic to remove it from the front of the bed. Then lift up out of the back lip and take the acrylic out. I wouldn't purchase the OEM acrylic again as it will break. If you need help, PM me and I will explain more clearly. |
