I have 2 salons & have ergolines & sundashes at both locations. I always re-lamp as soon as I detect a drop in the output of the lamps, probably at about 10% drop, or less. I know this is sooner than I need to but I want to totally avoid a customer noticing any change.
However, in the last month, I have changed out, (at different times the sundash 226's (120w), & the 240 (120w & 170w)lamps, & adjusted customer tan times. BUT, ALOMST every person, has been over exposed this time. I have NEVER had this problem before with these lamps, & still don't with other beds, using other lamps.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing?...
And can a lamp expert tell me, if there is any chance that a manufacturer could change the % of UVA/UVB, possibly to save money (eg, increasing the UVB still within a tolerance, to save on filtering???)

Honestly if you are changing them within 10% drop off (10% from when? the first run?) there should be little to no real notice in lamp strength. What are the lamps that you are using? It is possible that they are a Private Label and they changed manufacturers but not sure. What are the lamps you are using?

Exactly!!!...theyin the sundash 226, I've been putting the same genesis 120w lamp,( & I buy them from Ergoline) that I've always put in them,...this time though, they are running like a hi-tan...ITS SCAREY!!!!...do you think its possible for them to increase the UVB, & still treat it like the same lamp (if its within the allowed tolerance???)...its the only thing I can come up with.

The new lamps that are in the Ambitions have more UVB and UVA than the ones that came in the Sundash. I believe Cosmedico makes the redesigned Genesis lamps (This is what I heard). So I guess the answer is yes, they are different. They have a little more UVB, but alot more UVA. JMO.

Wrong, they have lots more UVB & they are most likely not comaptible for your equipment.

I would hope that Cosmedico would not make a Hi-Tan lamp & get it compatible for a 20 minute bed.

We have tested these Genesis lamps & they are about a 12 minute lamp, Pretty similar results to the Cosmedico Hi-tan. Get the compatiblity sheet from Ergoline that shows the exact part numbers & make sure that they match.

I have 2 all ergoline/sundash salons and had the exect same problem as you. They have changed the specs on the genesis lamps. They shifted the UVB closer to the UVC spectrum so it is now a lot more agressive lamp. I can't tell u how many people I burned before I finally figured this out. This lamp hits 4 meds in a about 11 minutes not 20. Way to reddening. I returned most of mine to my distributor and replaced them with the heraus New Colors T 5.0 version. Much better choice for a 20 minute session

Some may say MORE AGGRESSIVE but that REALLY means CHEAP *** LAMP. Most of my customers that complain about a lousy tan elsewhere are tanning in what they THOUGHT were the best beds (ergoline) until they tanned in them.

Garbage in, garbage out as in, if you put those GARBAGE tanning lamps in your bed people are gunna get a garbage tan AND attitude.

I wouldn't necessarily say they are cheap lamps, they are made by cosmedico, they are just not appropriate for a 20 minute application. THey would be great in a speed bed. These lamps also have a very long life. I kept the lamps in one of my bed and simply turned it into a 15 minute bed and it has only had an 8% drop after 600+ hours. In my opion that is a very long life.

Is shifting it closer to UVC leading to a higher risk of more sun damage?
