The bulb fans just quit on my bed - - and now I've been told I need a buckbooster. The previous owner -- a salon-- didn't use one, I've had this bed for 3 years and haven't used one yet. Is it necessary? Where can I get a good deal on one if I have to have it?

what kind of bed is it and what is your voltage coming into your business is it 3 phase 208 or just 220 volts one thing to remember the power company by law can change voltages buy up to 10% so if you had 220 volt and the voltage changed the bed would not work. if you need to get a buckbooster you need to know what the actual reading on the line is I read all my lines and monitor them with a amp meter. also each bed requires diffrent KVA on a buckbooster typical is a .5 and then you can buck or boost 12/24 or 16/32 this means etc in my salon I have 208 3 phase so my beds are using a 16/32 bucking to 16 so the total is 224 volts. pm and I can tell you.

Yes, you need one. The beds will perform better at their designed peak voltage..plus life of lamp will be extended, and perform at peak.

Most distys sell them. If you do a Google search, you may find better deals. Also, any major Electrical supply would have them..check Yellow pages. Be sure to get one for type bed. Most 100w beds could survive with a .5 or .75..32-40 lamps 1.0-1.5, anything bigger 1.5-2.0. Expect to pay $150-250 per buck.Do not install yourself. Electrician required.

Do you know what kind of bed it is? A lot of beds do not require boosters, if it has a digital timer, maybe the fan fuse or board went out?

Besides that, not having a buckboost transformer isn't going to make a fan go bad. The buckbooster is a separate issue.
