I'm looking to add a stand up VHR tanning booth. I had a company tell me today that acrylics actually keep the tanner cooler. What are your customers saying? Is this true in your opinion? I was leaning toward a grid system. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you

Unless someone has both, there's no way to compare them. In my opinion the grids are scary. Looks like the inside of a Procter_Silex Toaster. Acrylics, while they will degrade over time, stop the tanner from touching your lamps, coughing all over them, whizzing and sneezing all over them, and the list goes on....

Neon is right, we have a sun-up II with grids we wish it had acrylics.

Totally agree....I have SunDazzlers...they have acrylic, and they tan ALOT better than the VHR SunCapsules w/ grills inside.

Neon is WRONG!! You folks don't know jack about this topic. If you did you would be telling a different story! But go ahead and get the unit with acrylics and feel good about it. Who cares that it doesn't tan as well as a non-acrylic unit.

Acylics cost more and block some of the UV radiation (maybe 10%). I'm not sure about the IR - heat - whether it makes any difference or not. The acrylics do keep splatter and stuff from getting on the lamps. Sun Capsule uses grids in their booths, and they sell more booths than anyone else, so I would think they are doing something right.

I believe Suncapsules sells more, not so much as a result of the Grids (re:bird cage feel), but because of choice in exterior looks (The Starship is a WOW), and the many lamp/ballast configuration.. I know aome people who at first, feel if they were to back into the grids, they would toast. Acrylics, IMO, give a more secure feeling.

having a standup with acrylics is an advantage over the competition, explain to your potential customers how you chose a standup with acrylic due to sanitay concerns, explain that the acrylic gets cleaned each time a tanner exits just like other beds and how there is no way possible to clean the standups that have "chicken wire" even if you don't get the business every time that person tans in a standup without acrylic your words will resonate and all they will think about is how dirty those grids must be!

It would seem a little cumbersome to have to constantly clean the acrylics from splatters and customers touching or rubbing against them (I would think???--mine have grates). But it is probably more so to clean the lotion splatters on the grate and lamps.
