I have 2 tanamerica 42 bulb VHR's with 3 facials.

Is it normal that if you turn off the facials during mid session and then try to turn them back on, they dont always come back on. I talked to Tanamerica and they said this is normal for a high pressure bulb to have difficulty coming back on until it has cooled back down.

One of the beds seems a bit more sensitive to this that the other, but in testing them both out last night, sure enough, if i turn the bed on for a few minutes and then turn the facials off, they wont come back on or maybe 1 or 2 will come on.

I will explain to customers that they are not meant to be turned on and off during the session.

I am wondering though if during busy season we are going to be having problems with this running back to back sessions through-out the day in these beds. Am i going to have problems with the facials not coming on at all at the start of a new session becuase they are still hot from the previous session?

Why do they put an on/off switch for the facials then?

I have a friend who owns 2 Sunvision 24 bulb beds with face tanners. She was having the same problems and hers would go off during the sessions also . Turns out her cooling fans were not working properly. She had them replaced and now they work great.

the problem you asking about is a normal reaction from any high pressure lamp once a hp lamp is turned off IT MUST go through a cool down time they will come back on given enough time . just like your bed has a cool down time built in.this problem has nothing to do with fans most people turn them off(bulbs) when they feel theyve gotten enough on there face and wont try to turn back on simply explain to cust it may take a few minutes to come back on if they turn them off. you shouldnt have to worry about the next custemer because the bed has gone through its cool down cycle before it is restarted just be sure to check the facial switch I also have the 42/3 and all of my base beds have facials also. i hope your as happy with the 42/3 as i am it took almost 1 year of research to find the right upgraded bed and i am very happy with my new DEL RAY we went with the burgandy trim 15 min. session

Is that the only problem she is having with her ETS beds? Is her canopy melting yet?

If facials don't come back on for back to back sessions, or if they come on overly slowly after cooling even 3 or 4 minutes, then you are seeing the early signs of a bad ignitor. This will slowly get worse and become a problem one lamp at a time vs. all lamps acting the same. Bad lampholders and overheating are both hard on ignitors.
