I haven't noticed the bench getting all that hot though.....are you referring to the acrylic supports INSIDE the bench area, or the skirt panels around the bench leg supports?

The acrylic is what i was reffering to as getting hot.

Is the back of your bench enclosed or open? Are the cooling fans working properly, every one of them?

The back is open and yes fans were the first thing i cecked and are working fine.

As far as an upgrade, our supplier is giving the vented sides to us. I assume these are what we were suppose to get orrinally.

When you get those vented sides I would like to know more about them. As far as I know, the front panel and the end panels are always solid. I really doubt putting vented panels there will help the performance or coolness of the bed. IF the rails that support the acrylic are not vented, I could understand the problem. If they are solid, you won't get air flow on the front section of lamps because of the placement of the cooling fans. Actually there would be two rows of lamps that would not get cooling, they rely on the holes in the supports to allow air flow in these sections. I can't imagine Dr. Kern messing that up, but anything is possible I suppose.

Another thought.....I had a client complain about our Dr. Kern being mighty hot the other day. Said she had to end her session because she couldn't breath due to the heat. I immediately went to the room, and found that the body fan was not turned on! DUH!! Oh yeah, if you're relying on the puny body fan that comes with the 32/3 to keep your clients cool, forget it! I removed that thing and put another fan in its place. Dr. Kern is supposed to be developing a NEW body fan that will actually move some air.

Like I said, let me know when you get your 'vented panels', I'd like to hear what your end results are.

If anyone would like information on the cooling systems on the Dr. Kern 32CX please email me at jeff@exotictanning.com and I will be happy to help you. They are providing vented end pieces and front skirting. This does help considerably. The beds are now being shipped to the us with vents on them and this does correct the problem with the overheating of the bench. Also, body fans on the new 32CX stretch are dual fans which work very well, they are the same as the 42-4 CX. You also have the option of using one or two body fans during the tanning session by changing the switch on the canopy. Thought this comment would be helpful to interested customers.

I have 2 42/4 and the only problem I have had with one of them is replacing the facial facial fans which was a pain in the ***.. Does anyone run these units longer than the 11 minutes? I run mine 15 minutes. Also has anyone relamp with a different lamp? If so which lamp and how do you like it?

I wonder the setup of the salons commenting on extreme heat issues. I have 2 42's and 3 32 stretch, without any complaints. My rooms are designed with 8 ft walls so the heat can escape into the common ceiling, on the 42's, 6 in ducts take the heat out the back of the building like a dryer vent, and on top of the body fans added, I provide 18 inch commercial fans to keep air circulating, with 1 ton of ac dumped on top of each bed. In fact, the 42's are one of most requested beds. Just thought I would throw this in because the beds are not bad if set up right. Keep in mind that for the money, these beds are solid, and I have always had good service from Exotic Tanning, granted, the session isn't as comfortable as my Silverbullet, but then again, I could buy 3-4 Kerns for 1 SB

As a professional I find these beds sub par. The construction rivals that of ETS Sunvision and Pro Sun (Hapro). The acrylics are very dificult to remove. To replace any parts in the bottom of the bed the whole unit needs to be disassembled (or my fav, tie a rope around the bed and flip it over). The beds with facials eat ignitors on a regular basis from lack of cooling. The pistons are not calibrated properly and new factory replacements don't hold the bed up securely and the ball joints tend to shear off and the top colapses. (hope your head isn't under there when it lets go) There are beds on the market that are made entirely out of steel for the same price that will give many years of trouble free service.

Brian,

They are almost giving these beds away.

I'm sure that you have all heard the saying "you get what you pay for"

There are many reasons why one 32 lamp bed is $5000.00 & another 32 lamp bed is $2995.00.

This bed may be constructed cheaply, but it sure provides tanning results. If you get one that has NO mechanical/electrical problems, you WIN !

Like I mentioned in an earlier reply, 2 -> 42/4's nearly 750 hrs on each, a couple of fans blew (about 30 minute fix) that's it. Great tan, cheap, I guess I have been lucky to date. 3 -> 32's no problems what so ever, 250 hrs a piece on those. The clients love them.
