It appear there are a LOT or standup tanning units being sold in the Classified section right not. I'm not sure why, they are becoming very popular in most locations. It took a couple years for mine to catch on with my clients, but its VERY productive now. A note for you standup unit owners, to get the best results, make sure you have every other lamp installed in the opposite direction from the lamp next to it. In other words, have the label UP on one and DOWN on the next. I was reading in my SunCapsule manual this weekend and noticed this recommendation, that I had never noticed before. The lamps are sprayed with the phosphor coatings and the theory is, they tend to have a bit more coating on one end than the other. To invert every other lamp ensures a more even performance and consistent results for the tanner. I did the invert thing on mine as I installed the new electronic lamp starters.

The lamps are sprayed evenly throughout the length of the lamp so that is pretty much a non issue.

However, mounting lamps in a vertical position (as in a booth compared to a bed) The filament at the top end will take more of a beating from heat (heat rises) and cause premature burnouts. Flipping the lamps end to end about every 100 hours will distribute the wear on both filaments and prolong the life of the lamps.
