Its time to upgrade one of my beds to a vsr platform. I'm leaning heavily towards the ETS Starpower VSR with the patented speed system. Am I heading in the right direction? It seems that I have seen some negative remarks about the ETS sunstar speed system. All comments, both positive and negative are welcome. We are a small salon (7 beds) and this will be our "flagship" bed, so we want one that will give great results without too much heat production, and provide trouble free service for some time to come. Let me have it y'all!

The 'speed' system is not the same as 160 watt. You won't find many on the boards who like ETS but some salons do well with them.

There are alot of good beds out there. Do you want an Escort or a cadillac or something in between?

Like surfer said, do your homework.

A primary concern that is overlooked is the service for the bed. The better the unit the higher the cost and usually it should have equal backing by the manufacturer, do you have a local service supplier that will take care of this unit should it need repair? How long do you want to have this unit work for you and what condition should it be after 1000 hours of use? Will it stand the high use that you hope to have?

Do you like the idea of having your entire warrantee voided if you decide that you don't want to pay $23 per Speed lamp? Do you like a company telling you that you HAVE to buy all OEM parts?

If the answer is yes, there is nothing wrong with ETS. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

It wouldn't be as bad if the Speed lamps would perform better. But to be forced to use lamps that is so limited in ourput and have no other choice when replacement time comes, well, that should only fool those that don't research this before buying. I get calls all the time from people needing to get a better lamp so they can compete. Most are willing to forfeit the warranty to make the bed tan.

I want to thank everyone for their response. You have made me think twice. I did fall for the distributor's sales pitch about the coordinated engineering in the bed producing better results with the speed lamps. Now I feel that perhaps that is not as accurate as they would have me believe, especially since I did not receive any positive comments about the bed! Been looking around at other units, but don't see any that have the same suite of features ie the shoulder and side banks of lamps, facial fan, hinged acrylics, and 60 amp single phase pwr. I'm kinda in a time crunch now, and could use some specific suggestions on which beds you folks with experience think I should take a look at. Ideally, it would be great to run around and try some beds at other salons, but I am kinda isolated up here on Whidbey Island, and with the time constraints, that would be difficult indeed. So if you have a preference, please sing out and give me a steer - there are tons of 'em out there, and I'm beginning to believe that only experience with the beds can really tell them apart - and that takes time and money, both of which are in short supply right now!LOL. Thanks for your help.
