How many have looked at painting your old tanning beds?
I bet you could get a company that paints cars to do some real fancy funky designs, air brushing, stencels, think of how wild you could go!!!!

Racing stripes, flames, clouds, outer space, you name it!
Bright contrasting colors!

Cheaper then buying a new bed!

This is something that I've been recommending to my customers for years now. It's VERY inexpensive and you can customize by bringing someone into your salon that airbrushes. You could save 10's of thousands of dollars per bed and have the most awesome, unique designs.

A GREAT WAY TO GO !!!

We have fans that were working fine, but the casings were discolored from the UV. I bought Appliance spray paint and painted them and they look brand new! No other type of paint will work, I've tried it all.

I did the same thing - appliance epoxy. Then got one of our tanners who's business is pinstriping cars to "dress 'em up". He used one set of graphics to do 2 beds - they look like new!

Mori,

What are some ideas for my T-44? I know you've recommended putting a neon light behind the grill at the bottom, but mine is not facing the door so it probably wouldn't be noticed that much.

Thanks!
Ginger

Neon Beach, Yes, for years I've been aware that many salons still have some of the old, and very rare, 36 lamp beds that just kinda look old and antiquated.... but never break down and tan like the dickens, so why sell them. It was at least 8 years ago that I started telling the owners of these units to dismantle them and take them to auto body repair shops and have them painted, even suggesting using the sparkle paint like that you find on some of the kids bikes etc. Then I discovered that airbrushing was a great way to dress up a bed by having beach scenes sprayed onto the fronts. The one overiding factor though was that I made sure that the customers knew I was talking about metal beds. I used this technique to get people to realize that old, old metal beds could be "prettied up" even nicer than the new colour plastic beds.

IF you were being fescicious about the fact that my objective is to sell new beds... you don't know me! I want to sell new beds to my customers but I only want to sell them IF they need them AND I will go out of the way to discourage the purchasing of more equipment than what I believe the customer shopuld be buying. Sorry if you were not being flippant.

Ginger, the T-44, although "pretty" enough for the tough guy it is, can be "improved" by airbrushing the U-bars that act as the handle for the top and the "cover lid" for the plexi on the bottom. You can create beach scenes, waves, or just customizing your salon name ... cool looking. Also don't forget that you can also customize the reflective plates under the acrylics but either only under the area where the head would lie or you must be prepared to lose some, if not all the reflective properties of those reflectors.

As well Ginger, bear in mind that after five-ten years, you can relpace all the U-bars and relectors and make the bed look brand spanking new.

These beds are your workhorses, they are built to last 15-20 and more years, virtually problem free. The beauty in all this is that you will have years and years and years of problem free usage long long after the units have paid for themselves.

Great Idea. My Hubby does some painting on the side. I will have to remember this for when my beds need a face lift.

Re: Paint your tanning beds!

Can you suggest a way to paint the plastic parts on the beds so that they don't scratch easily? Also, I have a painter with a sprayer, is there a paint he could use to spray the metal & plastic parts of the beds that will be durable?
