a company called duolight used to make a lamp called power twist, it was not a tanning lamp it was a plant grow light, wide spectrum.
The lamps glass was twisted in shape, like you took a reg florescent lamp and twisted it when it was still hot glass.
The design was to make a larger lamp surface , that would give the lamp a slight higher output, I don't know if it worked, but the lamp sure looked interesting!
Any lamps makers going to come up with some ideas for the next generation of booth tanning lamps, that have new cosmedic designs from new colors to new glass shapes like instead of a tube shape to a triangle shape
clients are always looking for something new, even it its just cosmedic and does not effect results.
Power twist strange colors you must be able to come up with something new, how about a sun lamp that more closely resembles a black light.

What kind of plants were you growing chipp??

The problem with the "Powertwist" lamp is that it was a dust magnet. Lighttech over seas has made a twisted tanning lamp. What the twist provides is more surface area = more tanning. However tanning beds are dust magnets and so are these lamps.(Ergoline may look into using this)
Tanning lamps are already "Black lights".
If you're refering to Black-Light-Blue lamps that are actually a purple glass. They do not transmit UV light very good. To make them effective you would have to use about 10% uvb and you would get a tan like a 1.3% uvb.(because the glass blocks most uvb).
Lamps can be made any color. Sunbronze use to have a Green 7.5 lamp. Natural color is blue, everything else is added. LSI has done the Dual sun & Dual Sun XL, half pink & half Blue.

the power twist lamps didnt collect any more dust
when I used them for plants,,,,,,,By the way I had a tropical plant store for 15 years that is were i used them.
I also used them at home for african violet and mini roses.

In a booth you dont get dust build up on lamps, the fans draw any dust out the top of the booths.

I think the lamp makers are missing a good opertunity to make new looking lamps, and get more sales.
Clients are always looking for something new. and there must be many cosmetic changes that can be aded to uva lamps.
