Rep Power: 23 | I have an acrylic on a canopy that has two stress cracks at the facial lamp. At what point do you go ahead and replace it? They are about 2 1/2 inches long each and spread from the little thingy that holds it to the canopy. I worry more about where the cracks are (facial). If they were at the foot it would not concern me as much. |

Rep Power: 0 | the likelihood of the acrylic breaking is very slim, since it is on the canopy. what type of facial tanners do you have? are they high pressure (400w, etc) or low pressure (turbo sun, hrf, etc.)? high pressure units have the filter glass covering them, so the acrylic wouldn't affect anything. it might be a good idea to go ahead and replace the acrylic, especially if it has between 1500 and 3000 hours. if its that old (or older) then you may not be maximizing your lamps full potential. check out the acrylic FAQ section on www.fsparts.com. there is great info on when, how, etc. on acrylic replacement. tb |

Rep Power: 0 | While you are waiting for your new acrylic to show up, so that the crack does not travel any further, drill a small hole right at the end of the crack. About a 1/8" hole is fine. This will prevent it from getting longer. -------------------- Viper Jon@phiper.fws1.com |
