Rep Power: 26 | Jess:Texas is a regulated state and so you must install "compatible" lamps in order to continue operating a tanning salon.I will assume that the "2.6" lamps you mentioned are the lamps that came with the sunbed you are using. If that is the case, they will reach 4.0 MED in no less than 27 minutes and no more than 33 minutes. (+ or - 10% from the original.) The 2.6 number you mention probably means that they are 2.6% UVB.Therefore, going to a 6.5% UVB lamp would not be compatible. Those lamps would probably reach 4.0 MED in 18 - 22 minutes. There are companies out there that will "recertify" your sunbeds for shorter exposure times but I do not recommend this course of action. Please give me a call (888) 994-3828 (toll free) if you have questions.Don |

Rep Power: 26 | Fred:You get a gold star! Most tanning salon owners do not understand that they must comply with federal (FDA) regulations even though they live in an unregulated state. That is why the best policy is to run your salon so that it is ready for an inspection every day of the year.Jess:I would recommend that you call Jerry Devaney of Sun-Ergoline and ask his opinion regarding the lamps you should use. The Suntana is one of their sunbeds. His phone number is (800) 643-0086 Ext: 114.Hope this helps.Don |

Rep Power: 0 | I am comparing Interlectric lamps SS73 MAX 6500 120 watts to Genesis lamps F73-T12-HO-120 watts, I have Sun/Dash 232 GF beds. I have approximately 350 hours on these lamps. Initially at 50 hours the UV meter readings were 21.5 for the Interlectric lamp and 20.4 for the Genesis lamp. Now my readings are 14.1 for the Interlectric lamp which is %65 and 18.1 for the Genesis lamp which is %88. I was under the impression that you should change your lamps when you expend %30 of lamp life. I I spoke to the Interelectric service dept. and was told to me there readings were fine and their lamps were rated for 1000 hours and should be changed at 750 hours. If I would follow their rule their lamps would expend over %50 usefullness. Costumers are asking already asking why is there a difference between the beds. |

Rep Power: 22 | OHT, excellent observation and question! What you have discovered is that there IS a difference in lamp life depending on its construction and quality of components. Obviously the Genesis lamp is going to provide good tanning results LONGER than the Interelectric lamp. If you customer are noticing the difference, you CAN'T wait to change those lamps out. If the meter is telling you the output has fallen to 65% of original, you can BELIEVE it. I doubt you will be a repeat buyer of the Interelectric lamps, am I right? Sure Interelectric is going to tell you their lamp is rated at 1000 hours, but that doesn't seem to be proving out based on your data. Its time to change em'. |
