Hi! I have a friend who owns a gym/karate school, and he just purchased 4 2003 Solairis and a 2003 Sundome. He has decided that he doesn't want to deal with opening a salon so has offered them to me for $12,000. The salon is going to be located in the gym, it should have a good bit of traffic. He isn't going to charge me rent, just the difference in the lightbill, basically not much overhead. I have to paint and make the place look nice but not much else. Should I jump on this? We live in a small town with a couple of other salons that do very well. If I do decide to do this, where do I start with opening the salon? Thanks so much!

Re: Newbie here with a great opportunity
Is there enough electricity to run the beds? Rooms going to be big enough. Those are big beds! What will you offer to make your salon stand-out above the others. Are you sure they are doing well? If they are opening a third in a city with only two other could saturate the market and everyone loses.
I think SunSally will help out with some questions for ya. Free rent is great though!

Re: Newbie here with a great opportunity
Hi, thanks for the reply! Electricity and room sizes are fine, I know I can offer lower prices than the other places. I need to come up with some other things to make me stand out, though.

Re: Newbie here with a great opportunity
#1 - You need to charge whatever the other salons are charging for their comparable beds! Hai?
#2 - You need to be promoting the tanning services to all of the gym and dojo members, their friends, their family, their co-workers, etc. There are several promotions you can do in this area to get the ball rolling and start producing revenue immediately. Always remember, Danielsan, word-of-mouth advertising is the best, especially in this business. #3 - The tanning business needs to be run as a seperate business from the gym/dojo. You'll probably need to offer different hours (longer). You'll have tanners that don't want to work out or attend Karate classes. Sounds like a great opportunity to me! Yosh! Onei gozai masu! ~Go for it! Good luck ... so to speak! hehe~
