Is there a BTU output on tanning beds?

My landlord is trying to equip out space with the proper amount of HVAC and has asked me what the BTU output for each bed is along with any other heat generating device. I can't find this anywhere. Do tanning beds have a BTU output? This may be a stupid question... I apologize ahead of time.

Thanks

Re: Is there a BTU output on tanning beds?

most beds have a recommended ac requirement. consult the manufacturer, bed catalog, or manual.

u might also try a new topic called "how much ac do i need for"... then list your equipment and sq ft.

Re: Is there a BTU output on tanning beds?

There are pretty standard "rule of thumbs" for A/C that include:

L1 base bed - .5 ton each
L2 160/100 bed, maybe with facial - .75 each - 1 ton each
L3 Small VHR - 1.25 tons
L4 Big VHR - 1.5 tons
L5 HP - 3 tons

Plus some "ambient" A/C for the lobby/common areas. Then consider your climate and location - San Antonio vs. Bangor Maine, West facing windows vs. North.

You can make your A/C more effective/efficient if you consider the following in your buildout:

-HVAC runs placed appropriately (e.g. a larger run over the HP bed or maybe two)

-Venting the hot air out of the room for the equipment that permits this (at least above the room wall line)

-Having room sizes that are large enough for the larger equipment especially to allow for good air flow and circulation

Add in a little "personal preference" - for example, do you like A/C that is like a meat locker - or not. I walked into a salon the other day that was set at 67 - I hated it! I prefer 74, which is pretty much ideal for running the equipment. That 7 degrees difference can make a significant difference in your cooling needs -- as well as your electrical bills!

You calculate that at 1 ton for every 400 sq ft of space.

Cool Re: Is there a BTU output on tanning beds?

L1 is level one?
L5 is level five?

is this correct?

I'm new to working with Tanning Equip. and HVAC. How can I determine which 'level' the beds/units I will be using are??

THANKS

Re: Is there a BTU output on tanning beds?

Find out your bed mix and total sqft. and list the beds, if you are in a time crunch, or ahead of your self(building without buying beds or designing rooms and levels) guess it at 10-15 tons, put in a drop ceiling and vent every bed you can up there to control the heat. I would stongly suggest you do a lot of research, and ask a few more questions and snoop around local salons for ideas, before you get too far out over your ski's.

Yes - my short cut language.

In my scenario:

L1 - a 24-34 lamp 100W bed, with up to one High Pressure facial

L2 - a 32-44 lamp bed, 100W all around or 160W canopy/100W bench, with or without HP facials

L3 - a "small VHR" or "lower intensity standup" - generally 40-44 lamps on the VHR (160W lamps), maybe 48 160W lamps for the standup

L4 - a "big VHR" or "higher intensity standup" - generally 48+ lamps, 160W or more, standups of 50+ lamps, maybe 2M or 220W

L5 - High Pressure
