Great Opportunity... but I need some info!
Hello!
*Before you read this, keep in mind I am running a AIRBRUSH SPRAY TAN ONLY business Well I have found a GREAT opportunity. Long story short, this lady owned a salon, her husband died, she had a stroke, can't pay her lease. Sooooo, the landlord rents her place out for CHEAP! $1750 for 1750 square feet. The salon has actually had $30,000 in renovations. It has two bathrooms (one with shower), a breakroom, washer and dryer , two seperate rooms (one with massage table allready there!) and a FULL SALON set up (5 stations w/ the works). The place is NICE. Its in a VERY nice neighborhood, and on top of that, it is next door to a Photography studio.... who is LEGALLY CONTRACTED to do all highschools in Fort Worth and surround areas. So I'm guaranteed 5000 highschool seniors who are taking senior pics every year, plus all the other stuff they do. Anyway, the question I have, is that I want to rent out the massage room and hair stations/salon. Buuuut the realtor told me that she is a hair stylist and she says to even though I am only going to have people paying me rent, I need to have a liscense to run a salon PERIOD. (even though im not charging commissions, just rent ) Of course I am looking for liscensed proffessionals ONLY, but I just wanted to know if anybody was knowledgeable on this kind of stuff. If I get everything rented out I could be allready making my rent plus more right from the get go! Thanks for the time! -Frank Salas |

Each state is different... you will have to check with your state board. I assume since the realtor is a stylist she is correct.

You will probably need a business cosmotology license. If I wanted to add waxing to my business, I'd have to get the business cosmo license, then make sure anyone that works for me be also licensed. More of a pain in the *** for me.

Re: Great Opportunity... but I need some info!
Frank, I went through this. What a waste of money to get licensed. Here in Florida it was an application, inspection and about $400! And I can't get honest people who want to rent a room. They have to have keys to the building and have been caught here in the middle of the night running my tanning equipment for FREE. Here is what I would ask, Where are the ones that were renting these rooms before Granny got sick? Couldn't she rent them? If she couldn't, neither will you.
Just my thoughts, blessings, gg |
