I'm a new salon owner and have settled on all that's necessary, but not the beds. I've read several posts and it's never the same. Those of you who are "large" or "mega" salon owners with more than 20 beds please help. I have negotiated with PC Marketing, ETS and JK North America. I'm spending $150-200k on beds and I was planning on using one source, but after reading all the threads I just don't know. The thing I hear is UWE as a company is for sale... don't go with them. Montego Bay... haven't really heard. ETS is just a high end residential seller... don't go with them. JK (Ergoline/Soltron) are good beds, but are hard to get parts and the difference in the euro vs. the dollar will cost me more in the long run to maintain. HELP!!! I'm ready to buy, but as any smart businessman would do I'm relectant until I know I've gotten the best deal, but also know I've gotten the best bed to make a difference in my market. The majority of the salons (that would be competition) in my market are 100% ETS users (Tan Co., LA Tan and a couple non-franchises). We are opening a 25 bed salon in Noblesville, IN. We will gradually fill the vacant rooms as we'll only start out with around 15-17 beds. I just want to make sure that when I lay my head down at night I know I got the best beds in my salon. Any help would be appreciated to help me in making a decision.

don't buy new. You'll save upwards of 75% getting slightly used.

Yea,what he said,but your best bet is not to get into the business at all.The market is drying up and flooded with existing salons.

If I were you,I would invest in oil,its the only thing guaranteed to give you ROI

I've looked into used beds, but unless you know the exact history it's hard to be sure what your getting. I did have TW price some refurbs, but it wasn't that large of a difference to do it. Especially when JK offered me a deal that's hard to refuse on all new.

For the other post... I'm an honest person so oil isn't for me! Besides I'm knee deep and pressing forward.

You will be knee deep in debt if you go with all new.Take engfants advice on the used stuff.

The less your initial startup,the more likely your business will survive past 2 years.

Really. The market is saturated with used equipment right now. You can get GREAT deals on beds with ONLY a couple hundred hours for almost nothing. Its a buyers market right now for sure.

I'd never open any salon with more than 8 pieces of equipment. Go the old Twan route, bigger VHR equipment to maximize the square footage. If I had it to do over again, I'd only have 2 base beds, 3 mid VHR, 2-3 Lg VHR and Sunless.
