Re: How to start a Mobile Tanning Biz.

Thank you Mr. Belvedere. That was my original plan. I am going out to get my business license on Monday. I am still waiting to hear back from Fantasy Tan in regards to how much their machine is. It seems to be everything I want in one package.

I will practice on everyone that will let me before I dare take my first victim ;-) I already have a bunch of guinea pigs in line.

Oh hey everyone, just curious about those spray on exfoliators. Do you use them? And do I wipe the person down or do they do it themselves?

We advise them to exfoliate the day before. I'm not certain but I think the Fantasy Tan unit is over 4k.

Hi There -
I am in Northern California and run a pretty successful mobile tanning business. You do need insurance and the best place to go to is insurtec, they have very reasonable prices and allow for monthly payments.

You can contact me if you need any help or email me if you need to.

Re: How to start a Mobile Tanning Biz.

What kind of insurance do you need for mobile spray tanning other than liabilty on the van? ~You gatta have a van! Vans are cool~ Seriously, what type pf insurance must you have? I know you have to have the business license for tax purposes, unless you are adept at changing your identity when circumstances demand it. hehe

Re: How to start a Mobile Tanning Biz.

If you go into someones home to spray tan them and break something or spill your solution on their 35K oriental rug you should have some insurance. :) What if someone feels you spoiled their wedding day because you went to heavy with solution? I would look into it even further like notifying your auto insurance if you plan on using your vehicle for work. You will also get to deduct the miles from your taxes and should keep a record. Would you be sending out employees to do this as well? You need to go over all of this with your insurance agents.

Re: How to start a Mobile Tanning Biz.

Thank you eileen - it amazes me how so few mobile tanners carry insurance. Insurtec has insurance designed just for mobile tanners...Mine covers me whether or not I am tanning in a salon, hotel, home, wherever... I live in a very high income area in northern california and tan in a lot of homes that are worth over 1 million easily...I wouldn't dare tan in their homes if I wasn't insured... I've spilt a whole gallon of solution on my carpets before and know **** well the stuff doesn't come out.

Re: How to start a Mobile Tanning Biz.

Sonya, I just pm'd ya some info.

I've talked to several insurance people that have all told me that my mobile is already covered under my salon insurance and there is nothing additional for me to purchase as long as I have car insurance. People (Insurance COmpanies) could have lied and told me I needed more just to get my money but there was nothing to purchase.

Re: How to start a Mobile Tanning Biz.

Thanks SononaTanning for the InsurTec referral. I have contacted them & am waiting for my quote. I agree about having insurance. You'd have to be crazy not to carry it. As I told MissyHot, I purchased the Apollo TC3 machine. My dream machine is the Fantasy Tan, so if anyone knows of anyone that wants to sell me a used one (but then I wouldn't get the training). . .. . I haven't looked into the Infinity that Eileen suggested. . .. doing that now! :-) YOu guys are the best!

Re: How to start a Mobile Tanning Biz.

Hey Eileen,
I got my insurance quote through InsurTec today. Only $495 annually for $300,000 coverage in many areas. I am pleased with that quote! Going to check around to see what else is out there, etc. Oh and about that Inifnity Spa or Infinity Sun, I couldnt' find what you were referring to. I am getting my National Certification via the site you had recommended. So thanks.
