Re: new salon, not much business

That's because you don't know how to market them. ;) I brought in 18 customers yesterday alone with my last message sent out on facebook.

Re: new salon, not much business

Eileen,

We have 5 levels, my highest priced bed is a sportareddo mult-maxi hp, then a SP. universes, then multple L3, L2, L1's for a total of 11 beds. We let people try beds for L1 free, L2=$2, L3=$4, L4=$6, L5=$8 (all during first week only). During this week, we push eft's, also offer points(currently double your points for slow season), and offer single visits range from L1 $6 to L5 $24, along with monthly specials.

I am pleasently suprised with this bus., I hope it continues strong growth. I do not claim to be an expert, but I have owned businesses since 95, and am confident in my ideas. It may not work for everyone, but I will have 1000 people to market directly to, in under six months. We plan to utilize constant contact, to keep our specials in front of them. We will also continue our free trial week, the tanners like it. While we know it gets abused by some, we are gaining exposure and a strong rep, as my areas best salon, with the strongest beds.

It is very important when opening a new salon or purchasing an existing salon that you have a very specific plan for success. An important element of this plan is your advertising efforts. There are 3 to 4 different advertising seasons depending on if your are i a college community. You must know exactly when and how you should advertise each season and what message you should send in each advertisement. Waiting until you are open and struggling to try and figure out what you should be doing in terms of marketing is an indicator that you may have overlooked many other factors that will impact your success. Have a complete solid plan before you get started.

Don't just look for answers to this weeks problems, formulate a complete marketing and advertising plan that will address all of the different seasons and maximize potential income.

Create a MySpace and then invest in a software that automatically sends out emails, comments and friends request for you. Someone on here told me about the software and it was well worth the money. MySpace has done well for us and its free.

Where do I get that software?

Re: new salon, not much business

I design my own ads in html and send them out myself. I don't believe in spam for a second so I don't dare send bulletins unless you have accepted us as a friend.

Is facebook as easy as myspace? I tried filling it in and it looks difficult.

I can help you with facebook if you need it. It's much better for business and networking. You can target areas and ages easier.
