Buying a 14 yr old salon - Page 4

Here are some very important factors to consider since I have been through it for 2 years now and I bought an exsisting salon. I can tell you what info we need.

What is the size of the Town and does it support smaller towns around it

Second, What does there last 3 tax statments say, are they going down year after year.

Third, Make, Model and year of tanning equipment

Last is tanning equipment in good condition, Newer acrylics, all starters have been changed out in the last 2 years and the buck booster is the right size for the bed.

These are things you don't want to replace when buying an old salon at the price they want, 55K is alot of money for a 8 bed tanning salon. My best advice is to call your nearest distributer and find someone in your area willing to drive and tell you what they think it is worth. Shoot for $300 I will come tell you or for more I will you start your own for under 50K and that includes 8 beds, automatic spray tan booth and stand up. Like I said there is alot of used equipment out there, you just need to know the right people.

Pfff, 99K for five regular beds that generate 25K a year and a big empty room that you pay a large sum of rent for. Fatties give up quick. There will be only so many that will try it in the town and then quit.

That is why it is for sale. You are buying 5 Boat Anchors® and a big empty space that all of the fatties are done going to and are now parked back in front of the fridge. She is looking to get out and is trolling for a sucker.

sounds like my salon :-( and I paid WAY more than 55k. Im still here and doing very well...i briing in more than that tho but still...makes me nervous about what my salon is worth! ugh

I really don't know what to do about this salon. I found on tropical rayz website that you can buy a new salon package with 6 beds and even the walls for the rooms for 40K.

Stop. Tropical Rayz is junk. You will not build a profitable salon on 40K. You won't even get the doors open.

You will need that much to upgrade the electric and A/C alone.

I agree brian, I think you would have to spend at least 80k or more to get a decent salon up and running. you could always ask jewdyju she just opened a salon herself.

all these people talking such low numbers for salons for sale make me worried about mine!

The owner of this salon has been starting up salons and selling them since the early 90's. She has started & sold over 27 salons.

I dont know what to say. I bought my salon, which was old and outdated for ALOT more than 55k. It brings in well over 100k but still at times I feel like I paid too much. O well, what can I say now? Its been two years and I'm still here....im doing great, ive increased business every year and I'm planning more rennovations and upgrading more beds this year....if you like the salon and want to do it than go for it, people are always going to tell you not to. Go with your gut

The fact is you don't have to spend over 60k to start a new tanning salon, I know where right now you can buy Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 beds and a great price. Your husband can save you so much on your build out and that would be your largest expense but you don't have that. Find a great spot and do the research but I would go new and not by used.
