Bronze Biologic

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum, but most of all, new to the profession. I am diligently researching airbrush tanning and I have been reading the posts here and learned so much, but it's so overwhelming, I don't even know where to begin. I have decided to go HVLP (that I do know for sure). I have spoken with someone locally and they highly recommend Bronze Biologic. Does anyone know about this product? Pros/cons? Or do you recommend another product more? This person (who has a salon) says it is the most asked for product in Hollywood, etc. Also....how do I find trade shows to attend to find out about different products? I live in Florida (northern section) and I was a nail tech years ago, however, I let my license go because I ventured into another career, so I'm not privi to any of the trade shows, etc. I am burned out of the career I'm in (medical for 26+ years) and am now wanting to take a leap into offering mobile tanning in my area. What do you think of this venture? I haven't been able to find out much info about it here (mobile) or on other forums/boards. Any help would be SO greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

Re: Bronze Biologic

Hi mamadove and welcome to the site. First off, you are going to get many answers to what is the favorite solution. I'll leave that to someone else. the one thing I will say about that is, who cares what they are using in Hollywod! What are they going to like in Pensacola is the question. I'm not sold on the mobile idea, but who knows. It may go over. Let us know how that works out. What did you do in the medical field?

Re: Bronze Biologic

Hi billable, thanks for the welcome. First off, how did you know I was in the P'cola area? :-) I figure everyone will have a favorite product, and personally I don't care what they offer in Hollywood (other than they will want whatever gives the best end result and is less time consuming, etc), that was the only reason I even made that comment. The lady I spoke with just made the comment about it being a very popular product with those who will spend the $$$. May I ask why you are not sold on the mobile idea? What do you personally feel is the drawback? I have been hesitant because of the fuel prices, etc....but, if people will pay hundreds of dollars for "permanent" make up done (which is NOT permanent...I have a friend who does it and is wonderful at it).....I thought they might pay to have a good natural looking tan that is not damaging to the skin....if someone would come to them in their own surroundings, but maybe I'm wrong. I like the spray on and that is what drew me to it. I've done my days in the sun and I don't like laying in a tanning bed (too many things going through my mind that I could be doing). :-) As for the medical field....I was a scrub tech in the OR and have worked for docs all my adult life.....and the past 8 years, I have been a medical transcriptionist. Ready for a change!

Re: Bronze Biologic

Welcome to TanTalk mamadove!

We don't offer spray tanning so I can't offer any advice on that area.

Re: Bronze Biologic

I didn't mean to sound like I was arguing with you. Just the same thing you said. I would have had to ask her why should I care what people in Hollywood like?

I'm not sold on the mobile part of the spraytan because I think it is a limiting factor to what you can make for the time you spend. Set up a place in a salon or spa and take appointments. You can spray a person every 30 minutes or so and that counts cleanup time. If you go to them you have setup, cleanup and drive time. I would just guess maybe a spray every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. If you charge $25 for a spray when they come to you, you may be able to charge $35 to $40 going to them.

Using those numbers, 1 1/2 per customer, you can spray 2 in 3 hours. You made $80 gross.

If they come to you, you can spray 6 in those 3 hours, but let's say you just spray 5 at $25. That's $125 gross. And you haven't put in half a day yet.

As far as moving to Tennessee, come on up. We have lots of room.

Re: Bronze Biologic

Billable, I absolutely didn't take it like you were arguing with me. I've got pretty tough skin! lol

Yea, I see where you are coming from on the $$/time issue. That's why I'm not just jumping in with both feet. I really don't wanna be locked into a salon situation either (having done nails in the past sorta soured me to that). There are local salons who offer spray-on (not many though). I tried a couple of them and wasn't happy with things. Loved the tan result, but not the experience. I haven't tried this other salon yet (the one I referenced earlier), but they are a bit pricey ($40) in my book. But..... I guess I could go walk around saying I've got a "Hollywood" tan. lol

Let me tell ya, when we traveled to TN looking at property....it was like our hometown when I was growing up. Everyone waved as we drove by and we didn't know a soul! Very friendly, personable....small quaint towns in the southern end (right above the AL line). People would say the same things like you did "come on up, we'd love to have ya". You won't hear that around P'cola, I assure you. We're not sure where we will end up. First we have to sell what we have here....and well, the market ain't so great, that's for sure!
