Questions

I am a newbie but I have been on this site since 3:30 this afternoon. I already have the business plan to work on, asked someone else about demographics cause I would really like to know if it would even be worth wasting time and money in the area I am looking at. But something else that is really intriquing to me is if there is a tanning bed company that supplies everything you need in one huge package? ie: beds, sanitizers, goggles, signs, pillows, POS systems, timers, software etc.
Feeling overwhelmed!

Re: Questions

For the most part yes, you'll have to find a distribuiter in your area there are many around the country. What area are you in?

Re: Questions

You should consider buying a salon that is already operating.

Re: Questions

There isn't one to buy in the "huge" town of Vance, AL. The place only has 1 gas station. Where I am wanting to put one has a grocery store, a dollar store, nail salon, and a womens workout center.

Re: Questions

Then maybe you should consider moving... KIDDING!!

Most distys sell EVERYTHING. Search on this site for a recommendation and give them a call, see what they can do for you.

It doesn't cease to be overwelming, BTW!! The overwelming days don't end once you've finally got your place opened...

Re: Questions

Nope, moving is not an option. My father gave my husband and me the house...so no house payment. Which is better then most newly weds can say. No, I didn't figure it would be anything less than overwhelming.....but I enjoy it. Especially after being a stay at home housewife for the past 3 months. It can just get really mind boggling....everyone has their opinions about which beds are the best and which ones suck. Is there anywhere on the web that just rates the beds?

Re: Questions

There is no pat answer Anela! There is no "this will work & this won't." If that's what you're looking for, save your time and research instead about how to be very good at sales & marketing. That's what it really comes down to, how can you market what you have in its best light, and then sell it once you have prospects....

Maybe there shouldn't be a tanning salon. Call Stephen Underhill, he was doing a free tanning specific demographic, maybe he still offering it. He has a ad banner on this site.

Re: Questions

Very good advice Derf! I know the prevailing attitudes in our industry are against consultants in general, but I highly recommend Steve to anyone that is considering hiring a consultant. I've known Steve for several years, and have had the opportunity to see him in action first hand for a couple of salon owners in Colorado.
