buying used?

What are your thoughts? I am curiuos if any have been nightmares or successful. I know I am going to be looking for a quality HPB but am not sure if I should just buy new like the rest of my equipment. Thanks for your input!

Re: buying used?

IF your buying from an individual, see the unit working, that is the best thing I can tell you. If your buying from a dist, then you are a little safer. (not always thought). It all depends on if the dist. knows anything about HP.

Re: buying used?

First units we bought new, after that used but from the original manufacturer. Should have bought used much earlier.

Re: buying used?

Thanks, do they refurbish the used? Isn't it funny how they don't let you know about used beds when you tell them you are a new salon? I already know what I would net salon if I can ever get my 1st one opened!

Re: buying used?

if its from a disty it should be refurbished ....but who really knows. if your opening a NEW salon you might want to get a mix of used and new. unless you get pratically brand new looking used equipment. i just think most tanners go to new salons for new equipment......IMO

Re: buying used?

In my opinion the only time you should consider used is when it caries the same warranty as new, and only provided by the manufacturer. Otherwise you are setting yourself up for problems. how many times has a salon owner purchased a used bed from a source that says it is like new and I will warranty it. The person not only will not stand behind it but there is no guarantee that they will be in business long enough to help you. If you purchase from the manufacturer they typically have refurbished it or will give it to you with the same warranty of a new system. Personally I think it is best to buy new. Your equipment is an extension of the packaging you are trying to put forth. If your statement is we are the best salon in the area and we have some great used equipment to prove it. Than go ahead, on the other hand if the used equipment is basically new, you will be OK.
