Re: Brand New Owner with Questions!!!!!!

It's easier to tolerate being broke if you have a sense of humor.

Belvy is absolutely on the money.

I will give you the key to being successful in this or any other business you may get into in the future.

Nobody makes any money until somebody sells something. You don't sell, you don't eat.

The other crap is simple. Bed times, tingle, no tingle, bronzer, etc. Just product knowledge. If you are in sales, you understand how to research your product and how to present it. (Your product here is actually 75% service, but you get my drift.)

Re: Brand New Owner with Questions!!!!!!

I bought an existing too. Absentee owners. I work it pretty much myself I have one employee and during the spring I have 2 and 3 bed cleaners that rotate. Your personal relationshop and your knowledge is what keeps them coming back.
Going to different tanning sites is a great way to expand your knowledge.

Re: Brand New Owner with Questions!!!!!!

Like the others, I say you should put your sales knowledge to work in your salon by working it yourself. It is the best way to learn about the biz, being there day in & day out.
If your employees know that you are lost, they will take advantage of you.
You bought a biz that breaks even, what's the point? All that work & hours you'll put in after working your sales job will net you zip.
Get rid of one employee, save some money and work the biz you bought!!
Once you're in there, you will find ways to improve it and make it a profitable biz.

People die, leave their loved ones forever, do all kinds of unimaginable things, every day hoping to come to this country and work to earn what you now have. Don't take it for granted!

The current employees have run the place for the past year so I am keeping everything the same for now except trying to recruit more customers. That is really where I need the best advice out there!! So far I like your suggestions. Thanks a lot for your patience!!! :)
Well tell your finance to take her time doing her hair and get all the scoop. What kind of beds are there? Is there a software program at the salon? I think right now you need to learn about the actually tanning and your equipment so you're employess don't know more than you. THen deal with the other stuff. You don't want to get a call from the salon with a questions and not know the answer.
