There was a time that puretan was one of the leading companies in the US based on quality and customer service. That is no longer the case, it did not happen over night but unfortunately puretan lost its edge and ability to build and deliver equipment and customer service. I left puretan almost 7 years ago when they where still in mix. TanAmerica however has always maintained a level of quality and customer service that salon owners can depend on. I hope this answered your question. It is the same as with tanning salons. You must always strive to be the best because with out the consistent effort you can't stay on top.

Re: should i hire a consultant...

I think hiring a consultant is good, especially for those who have no expereience in the industry.

You can usually speak to your lotion disty and bed manufactor and they can reccomend one for you.

Re: should i hire a consultant...

Real estate brokers make thousands of dollars when they lease you a space, Finance and equipment lease companies make tens of thousands of dollars in interest sometimes at 20% to 25%. Architects make thousands of dollars on blueprints, and yet many people are saying that there is no value to a Consultant that actually is going to have a major impact on the success of a salon. If there is no need for Consultants, why are there so many salon owners here looking for help after they are open and struggling instead of getting the assistance before they open. If they had gotten the assistance they would be doing well. My point is that salon owners spend tens of thousands of dollars on things that have no direct impact on the success of there salon but don't want to spend anything on the services that will make them successful. Do it without a Consultant, is bad advice.
