memberships and eft's

I have been searching the TanTalk forum for a definition of EFT. But I have to expose my newbie ignorance and ask out loud What exactly is EFT, how does it work and will it work for mostly college student clientele? And while I'm at it, since I've been reading about different pricing structures and strategies, can same or other experienced salon owners tell me how they do memberships and is this a better income than sessions and packages?

EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles. Instead, simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem - whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc. -- and voice positive affirmations.

EFT's suck.

EFT means electronic fund transfers. That means you autobill your clients' credit cards at the beginning of each month. They don't have to bring in cash in other words, and you have $$ going into your til weather they come or not.

It would probably work very well for college students as they are often stupid and taken in by such things as they rack up huge, incapacitating credit card debt that will haunt them for the next 10-20 years.

EFTs work very well for some, but I don't like them personally, and therefore won't bring it to my salon.

EFT good or bad

EFT's work only if your market is full of year round tanners that have poor memories and forget that they bought the EFT deal. It's a great thing if you can get the volume......... then sell them all a new lotion every 10 sessions, plus whatever else you have to offer in the salon.

Basically, an EFT program is a loss leader.

But if you have a market full of year-round tanners, why give them a deal to sign onto EFT, when you could be selling by the month or by the session and make more $$ from them. They're going to tan anyway.....

That's what I think, but some use it as a loss leader and kick in the sales skills to sel them anything and everything.

Well I certainly don't want to create a credit disaster for college students. And yes, it's their responsibility. Is this something that's tied in with membership program? Or is it for monthly unlimited? Is there a charge per session?

You can sell a monthly unlimited by 30 days, you don't have to EFT it, y'know... You can sell whatever you want, however you want.

Do you want to rephrase your question? Maybe I'm not getting what you mean....
