to the newbies please read!
i often see alot of new salon owners come to this site with some pretty basic questions or problems. ive even seen newbies that dont have enough tanning knowledge to even ask a question the right way. even newbies who cant supply us with the info we need to help them get the right answer.
incase you didnt know there are many tanning supply distributors out there willing and able to help you. if your disty cant give you a answer to your questions you need a new disty or possibly just a new sales rep. let these people know your a new owner just like you do when you post on tantalk. most big distributors train their employees in the department they work in wheather it be lotion, marketing, or tech support and the knowledge they give you is FREE and very usefull. i recommend www.Futureindustries.com www.twtan.com and www.fstanning.com also check out www.islandsuntimes.com and www.tanningtrends.com and get yourself 2 very useful tanning industry magazine subscription oh yeah and still post your questions on here so we can try to help. |

Re: to the newbies please read!
I have to disagree with the advice to let a disty know that you are a new owner and clueless. I got screwed over this way and was sent weak *** bulbs after asking for strong ones even though I was told I would be sent strong ones. Luckily I had the knowledge to recognize the truth when they arrived BUT I ended up having to send them back at my cost and then pay for the shipping of the stronger ones back to me... paid for shipping 3 times to get the correct bulbs all because I admitted to being a newbie and asked a disty for advice. I should have come to tantalk instead.

Re: to the newbies please read!
c this is what i mean you should of never had that problem from a good disty. secondly you agree to the lamps your purchasing over the phone if you dont get what you paid for why should you have to pay all that shipping. i bet it wasnt one of the disty's i named

Re: to the newbies please read!
You're right it wasn't one of the distys you named. When I called to complain about the wrong bulbs I contacted a different person in a different state than the one who sold me the bulbs. Same company, different salespeople? I don't know but the second person wasn't about to take responsibility for the first person. And then when I finally got my bulbs one whole box was still wrong and I had a broken bulb. Needless to say I won't be using them again.

Re: to the newbies please read!
Seems there are 1000's of these "independant" distys all over the country. I have one near me....he's an idiot. Well and I am an idiot for trusting him when I first took over my salon. I am a LOT smarter now..... and I know who to trust. Anyway sometimes you just have to learn the lesson on your own and it just takes time. Web sites like these help TREMENDOUSLY. And the good people on this site (well, most of them) you can trust.
It especially helps to talk to other SALON OWNERS because they aren't trying to sell you anything or get rid of old lamps or lotion.....

Re: to the newbies please read!
CTM, I have to agree with Cutie. These disty's (never dealt with the ones you mentioned) just want to sell THEIR product. I've been screwed in the 'bulb' portion of my business and am stuck with crappy bulbs. I rely on the advice of you and others here on Tantalk to get unbiased feedback and help.

Re: to the newbies please read!
there is no reason to have more than 1 problem with a disty. if you dont like the way your haircut came out do you go back to the same place and hope next time it comes out better or do you go to a new stylist. there are way to many good disty's to choose from.
click on the links i provided and get the service you deserve |
