Re: Flooring
In our salon we took out a really nasty green carpet, and replaced with a laminate maple wood floor from SHAW. Good product, not any noticable issues with scratching (unless your looking really close) and cleaning is a breeze with wet swiffer or dustmop. As a previous post noted though, you will see wet marks/swiffer streaks if gets too wet and allowed to dry. Gives a nice warm feeling v.s. the industrial feel that I get from concrete. Just depends on your design theme. Definitely wouldn't go with carpet again.

Re: Flooring
Okay, sorry it took so long to reply back - opening a new salon and all (which has gone very well!)
I wanted to attach some pictures but they are too big (file size - 1177kb - I tried to compress but it only compresses to 1162kb - any suggestions? All in all, they turned out well. We should have left down a protector when the beds were installed because that process really scuffed the floors. We'll probably need to urethane the floors again sooner rather than later to just clean them up. Overall, I think they turned out great. They do show more scratches and scuffs than I would have originally thought but for $900, you can't beat how it looks. I get many compliments on the floor and overall with how the salon turned out. I'll try and get some pics to you somehow |

Re: Flooring
I have a question, how do you replace the flooring with the equipment in place? I hate my flooring and would love to replace it, but the thought of moving all of the equipment makes me sick.

Re: Flooring
Weird, I just joined this site and one of the first pics I saw was of Summer Breeze's floors and fell in love with it!
We currently have tile and its so friggin porous that dirt always seems to be ground into it. We sweep and mop daily and have professional floor cleaners in once a month. We've tried waxing it, and it eventually peeled off in some places. It looks great and really opens up the place, but its a pain in the butt! I myself would go with the concrete. I have no experience with it, but it seems as though it would be the easiest to maintain and keep clean. There is nothing more gross than going in for a tan, having to remove your shoes and coming out with black feet! |
