I'm no expert by any means, we are currently building our space out right now. We just did hardwoods in our house at 2.25 sq ft from Lowes. We will be 1,100 sq ft at the salon, so we are looking at 2,475 to do the entire floor. We are doing the same style hardwoods, light colored, with nice large matts in the tanning rooms for putting on shoes,,lotions, etc. etc.

Re: Flooring

stained concrete! we are still tearing up the carpet and staining the concrete underneath - its not the staining itself that is hard - its the prep work! it looks awesome and everyone loves it - and it is dirt colored "padre brown" by chemstain. easy easy maintenance

Re: Flooring

RGM, you are doing the floors yourself? How is it working out? I am interested to know how it is going?

Everyone else thanks for all the posts. It has really helped.

Re: Flooring

Out of all of the floor types tile is the easiest to maintain, just keep the grout sealed.

Re: Flooring

^agree
also - go with dark colors of grout because even if you do have them sealed - eventually you will have to have the grout sanded and reasealed periodically in order to keep the light colors.

Re: Flooring

malibutansnc - thanks for the link to Summer Breeze! It was very helpful to view their buildout pictures. We were thinking of stained concrete and after seeing what the Summer Breeze owners did with their floors, we think we can tackle the job! Stained concrete is beautiful and seems very easy on up keep!

KDHTan - Summer Breeze also tore their carpet out and put in stained concrete. Not sure what your budget is but it could be an option for you.
