Re: Planet Beach??

In my experience, the Planet Beach stores do a very good job and compete very well in most markets. As for ETS beds, their equipment has improved tremendously in my estimation and deserve credit for that. But as everyone here knows, it's all about the lamps and the lotion when it comes to delivering "The Brown" our customers come in for. Hope this helps. Good luck out there. -belvy

Re: Planet Beach??

Now lets not hate. I have several dif. beds, olso one suvision 28 with one facial. Its a '98 model. That bed has never missed a beat since the day it was removed from the box. We have a number of clients which will only tan in that bed. Put some good lamps in it and it will kick ***.

Re: Planet Beach??

It's no different than if you bought a Ford or a Chevy. All the engines are made at the Centeral Foundry. Most tanning beds are the same as Electric_Sun stated. It all comes down to customer service and price.

I have PureTan S+ which are made by Lightsources

I have Cosmedico 200 watt VHR and 160 watt VHR

I also Have Klafsun 100 w and 140wattR

There is much more to a bed then bulbs, andI have to disagree, they are not ALL the same at all.

Parts are very important, as well as you can put a 200 watt bulb in but what ballest are you using, because if they aren't pushing 200 watts then your not truly tanning ina 200 watt system.

Also different beds are made differently, Like for instance some beds have a Fan FOR EACH bulb/ ballest some only have 15 per 28 bulbs/ ballest... which bed is going to run more cooler? If your bed is running cooler the equipment is also cooler.
There is also hinged acrylic or pull out, pull out trays virses stored, but then thats the owners preference. There are so MANY different things that make beds different.

Another thing about beds and salons.... if your tanning at a salon that has been in business for a VERY long time, they maube changing thier bulbs, but are they replacing parts? Because parts also need to be replaced.

IMO ETS maybe doing a better job now, but in the 80's and 90's the equipment was poorly made, if a salon is still using that equipment they need to replace it OR at least replace major componets which with older equipment, no matter who made the bed, needs to be done as well.

Anyhoo she asked for opionions I gave her mine....

Re: Planet Beach??

Ballasts drive the bulbs and for the most part ballasts are all the same based on what bulbs they are driving. They are made from the same specifications. Bulbs, on the other hand, do come in different quality and outputs. A 100 watt bulb is 100 watts. What makes the diiference is how much MEPs they can produce. That is determind by the quality and quantity of the flouresing chemicals used to produce the u.v. light frequency.
Every bed manufactured still MUST pass the FDA requirements and specifications as published.

Re: Planet Beach??

I meant it was a owner preference, I think I put that in my post. My experience with ETS equipment was a very bad one, but like I said that was awhile back thier equiment may however be different now. I chose the beds I bought because they had what i was looking for, like a fan for each bulb/ ballest, pull out ballest trays, Puretan parts and cosmedico parts, which I have found them to stand behind thier parts 100 %... but I only said bluntly what I said because I was talking to a tanner, not a owner, ya know?
I think bed choices are personal, based on what they are looking for and price, cuz ya know bottomline is usually the $ amount :)

Re: Planet Beach??

Just like buying a Ford or a Chevy. The engines are all made at the same place by the same people, i.e. Central Foundry. The only difference is the name. Most of the components in a tanning bed are the same except, perhaps the bulbs. Like cars, tanning bed body styles come in so many shapes, colors and sizes, it's hard to keep up. None of those thing actually enhance the actual performance though. As for tanning bulbs they all must still conform and meat FDA specifications in order to be sold and used in the U.S.
I was not aware of any bed that provides one cooling fan for each bulb/ballast.
I chose the beds I bought because they had what i was looking for, like a fan for each bulb/ ballest Interesting concept. That's a **** of a lot of fans for a 36 bulb bed. The wind effect must be awesome.

Re: Planet Beach??

I purchased 6 beds from one company and one bed from another company, all 7 of the beds I purchased come with equal amount of fans per bulb/ballest.

meaning thier are for example in my base beds which are 28 bulbs, 14 bulbs & ballests in canopy, thier are 14 fans in the canopy. 14 bulbs & ballests in base, thier are 14 fans. pulling the heat off each ballest and bulb.

Re: Planet Beach??

i like ETS beds... the customers have only said good things about it. Most of the time when customers try our high pressure Velocity (you have to have the new version) and they are used to the ultra bronze they comment on how much more they like the velocity... but i guess it is left to personal opinion....

there is a planet beach in our area... they are absoluetly no competion at all, its actually not a nice salon at all, hasn't been updated in ages. I'm sure it doesn't represent what the rest of the salons look like or there is no way it would be a chain
