My boyfriend and I are considering opening a tanning salon. Where do you go to find out about industry trade shows?

Re: Trade Shows

Trade shows are not the best place to learn how to open a business. It is my opinion it is best to have a good year of operating a salon before you attend a tanning trade show. Without some experience in the industry you will not know how to get the most out of a trade show. More often than not you will leave a trade show confused not sure if you want to open a salon. The exhibit floor is designed to make sure you purchase the wrong mix of equipment. The seminars and certification classes can be very helpful. If you have a complete plan of how you are going to open and operate your business and have already determined the appropriate mix of equipment you need the show can be good as long as you don't allow yourself to be distracted from your plan.

Re: Trade Shows

Thanks Steve . . . we are working hard on our plan right now, but my big concern is finding the right information out there. We want to be well educated on every possible aspect before we open a salon--I really don't want to fly by the seat of my pants.

Re: Trade Shows

Spend a few days with the search feature at the top of the screen. Most questions you have, have already been asked and answered on boards like this one. There is a goldmine of information squired away in the archives here.
Good Luck.
