Lightbulb Electric Output

Hey all,

New to the biz, and am currently in deliberations with landlord as to some requirments for my salon. I am in negotians for an 1100 sq ft. space and am curious about a couple of things (especially electricity, never was too good with that sh$%)! The lessor (i think you call him) has agreed to upgrade my unit for me but I dont really know how much electrity I require? Our salon carries 4 wolff 32 lamp units (100 watts). Also there are 2 Pure tan quantum stand up beds (51 bulb units)! Ummmm.... the guy also said that AC is 5 ton (its in a strip mall tho so im a little confused...wouldnt their be some type of main AC unit? (i guess i should probly ask him that one LOL). What should I request that he install in place (keep in mind I would potentially upgrade the beds in the future ...... and there is still room for a couple more too.)?????? Anyways i know yur all busy but any help that you might have regarding the aformentioned questions would really help!! thanx

Re: Electric Output

With 600 amps you can never complain. Based on your equipment you probably only need 400amps. You likely will need 10ton of ac for 1100 sq ft

Re: Electric Output

Your A/C will somewhat depend on where you are located. A good rule of thumb is to have 1 ton per room plus 2 to 3 tons for lobby. 400 amps would seem to be the minimum you want. I'll agree with tansource and say 600 amps is better.

Re: Electric Output

Forgot one ?

You said i will need about 10 tons does that mean i'll need to purchase another unit instead of using the ac the mall provides?

Re: Electric Output

They'll have to run addition wire to a new circuit breaker panel. Typically a circuit breaker panel is set up for 200 amps. each. Keep in mind, 400 amps (two, 200 amp panels) will be a minimum you would want.

Re: Electric Output

400 amp 3 phase or 2- 200 amp 3 phase is all you need for the square footage you have. May sure the electricians balance your loads, if you go with the 2- 200 amp panels. You will need an additional 5 tons of air + what is already there. Try to get the landlord to pay for that, because you can't take it with you if or when you grow out of that space.

Need a seperate 200 amp panel or upgrade the existing 200 to a 400. No you can't boost amps only volts.
