Re: employee manuals

Hey, me too... my email is : suntanzbypru@yahoo.com
when you start out with nothing, and no one to help you, it takes a while to grow knowledge. If you start out with just family, and grow like we have, it's just now time to start thinking "employee". so dont be surprised,, that's what you knowledgeable folks are out here for right?

Re: employee manuals

Manuals seem to be rather specific to the owner and operations of your tanning salon and I think will need customization / personalization to be of much value other than a guide how manuals have been constructed by others.

We have several manuals organized into logical (our logic?) categories of information. The primary reason behind this is to "FOCUS" a new hire on the different aspects of their responsibility while training. The concept here is NOT to mix information in either the manuals or the training. Training for "Rules" is different from training for "Operations" and both are different from training for "Sales". The secondary reason for having separate manuals is security. Employee ("Rules") manuals are not particularly proprietary so the manual can stay in the possession of the employee, where "Operation" and "Sales" manuals are proprietary and maybe should stay in the possession of the salon.

Below are the TOC's from two manuals for those who wish to write their own, first an "Employee Manual" which starts the employee record and serves as a permanent rule guide. The second TOC is for an "Operations" manual, both also can serve as a outline for training.
Have Fun

Re: employee manuals

My employee manual is very basic, make that VERY, VERY Basic!
Mom & Pop shop, with seasonal help. But I do have it in writing, what I expect from my employees.
The table of contents in these manuals you have posted are great!
I'd love a copy of your employee manual. I take it you are a franchise, or have many stores and experience gives you wisdom.
Thank YOu, Thank You, Thank You for sharing with us!

I've stolen many great ideas from this site in such a short time!

Re: employee manuals

That is what we are here for.. to share ideas, keep current about the industry, speak about MFGs that have great or crappy service/products and help each other-especially the other newer salon owner.
