Re: employee manuals

It does not matter how many employees you have. If you do not have a consistent and accurate transfer of information, how can you have a successful business. An employee manual is an extension of how you intend to achieve success. Without a plan you will never experience the level of success you will achieve with a plan. This is why 90% of all salons are struggling or failing. You can choose to be among the 10% of the successful salons or you can just wing it and likely fail or do much less than the potential this industry can provide.

Re: employee manuals

Having one handy( full version) is great -especially when they are flying solo for the first few days. Try to have condensed version of key points lamonated on index cards on a ring.( FAQ's)

That will serve three purposes..four actually

1- the new staff member will feel less nervous( and so will you--not to mention you will get less phone calls for petty things)

2- when you see on the newbie is dead on..and not using it at all. ( they lied when they said they have never worked in a tanning salon before.)

3- If the newbie still holds on to the "ring O knowledge" after 2 weeks or so... YOU KNOW NOT to give that staff member prime time shifts (especially during busy)

4- If a seasoned staff member makes a stupid mistake that benefits the "client" a little too often especially one close to thier age group-- they have no excuses it was hanging right next to teh register..what do you mean you did not know how what to do?

If you do not have one...get one or make your own--- ASAP
