Depends on what type lamp, what type bed, and how "good" of results you want to continue to give customers.
Contact your lamp distributor (if you don't have one, call John at Ultraviolet Resources Inc in Brookpark OH) and they can help. |

The best way to tell when to change lamps is to use a Solarmeter 5.0. This way you can track the depreciation of UV in the lamps.
I usually knock off 30% of the rated life of lamps to actual use. So if someone rates lamp life at 800 hrs less 30% = 560 hrs of decent use. |

Also, most beds are equipped with an hour meter. It is rather simple to keep track of how many hours are on the lamps if you are organized. Once you know your lamp life (through your distributor) you can go by the meter and also use a solarmeter to monitor them.

Thanks you'all. I learned some really good info. My wife and I are trying to get in position to open a salon, but we have a long way to go yet. We thought we should go ahead and try to learn as much as we can, tho. Thanks!

Re: I know the bulbs are absolutely crucial so....
I agree, that's what we do. We use a solar meter and the hour meter on the bed. Just keep a notebook and take readings every Sunday, mark them in the book and you have a pretty accurate way to determine when the lamps need changing.

Depending on which system you use, we use sunlync, it keeps track and I just have to print out the report that tells me exactly what hours the beds are at.
