each bed on a national average brings in $15k w/ 30% of that being lotion sales.
calculate out your total # of beds times $15k and that's a pretty good number to shoot for. month by month breaks down like this (approxametley according to national averages)
Jan-7.8% Feb-10.9% March-12.7% April-14.9% May-14.7% June-11.1% July-6% August-6.1% Sept-3% Oct--3.2% Nov-4.2% Dec-5.4%
Hope this helps. This is really more of a guidline than anything else since it is of course an average.

Howard,
The 15k per bed number ... Where did you get that? Is that a national average or personal experience? The only space available to us is over 3000 square feet. We are in a small town where noone does tanning "right" but there are quite a few beds in town. We had only planned to open with 8 beds but we can afford 10. I guess my question is "when do you reach diminishing marginal returns on buying beds?" I may try to bring in a massage therapist and some retail to fill the space or I might just buy a bunch of Microsoft... and let Bill Gates do the work! 3000 feet is a lot of space in a small town.

First thing I caught was relamping 1 time a year. That would put you straight out of business around here. Thats why I usually start picking up the comp's customers when we get deep in the slow season. They dont relamp but once a year right before busy season. I relamp at least 1/2 beds in slow season.
