I ran into the same problem with the strip I am in. The original space only offered 200 amp service lucky for us the landlord had another building in the same complex with 400 amp. Luckily my landlord and husband worked together and we had a great electrician that we trusted. I personally would never have thought to check that. I do remember it was going to be very costly if we had to have the electric company come out and upgrade to 400 amp. Would not have been worth opening for us. Do your homework and decide if that location is worth the extra $15,000 or can you find another location with 400 amp.
Just a little extra note, do some research on your A/C system and make sure you have duct work, air flow, ventilation, and enough A/C to accomodate this business. I believe that is about the number 1 complaint of most salons, not enough A/C. What company are you purchasing your beds from, typically they will assist you in finding exactly what set up you need. Best of Luck to You!! |

I believe tenant upgrades are the responsibility of the tenant. You're going to have to bite the bullet and bring in the juice. The power companies typically do not negotiate on their pricing. Good luck.

I ran into the same situation twice, the first was as your situation... old building and I would have had to upgade the entire building for $30000 to get what I needed, the other was to run another line from a transformer across the drive way, dig it up and repave job, $17000 was enough to walk away from that on also.
