I was just wondering what Business Plan software you all use. I read all the threads about Business Plans, and it seems like a lot of people use Tan Plan. I am ready to start one now, and was just looking around for some. I also looked at Tanningbusinessplan.com. Also, if you could tell me how much you paid for it I would really appreciate it. Thanks everyone!

Aloha,
Good for you. And don't forget to re-evaluate your business plan. It is YOUR business plan. If you think you knew it all going in and things start to go bad, make sure you make the proper adjustments. Don't wait until the following season to correct them. I hope in your business plan that part of your strategy is to review the results of your marketing and promotions efforts, understand who your best customers are and how to target more of them. You should watch your salon finances like a hawk. Don't draw a salary if you can avoid this. The first year is the most crucial year for a new salon. If you budgeted a salary for yourself, shame on you. Look at the bottom line and especially your break even point. Most salon owners probably don't know what this is or how to calcualte it. Where are you on the BEP? Above or below. What will it take to get you to breakeven or above the breakeven point? Don't be ashamed to contact an experienced consultant who can review your tanning salon and give you advice on how to improve your sales and bottom line. Look at what your competitors are doing on a regular basis. Are they matching you on price? Offering better packages? IMproved their salon decor? Offering other products and services. Don't ever lose sight of your competitors. that's my two bits for today. |

A business plan is a document that provides industry statistics, provides start-up cost, cost of operation and income projections. Now here is the most important part. The Business Plan describes in detail exactly how you are going to operate your salon and achieve your goals. This information should never be developed randomly or by looking at every salon in your market. To insure your success rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, you should pattern your salon after successful salons that have a comprehensive plan and are maximizing income potential. To just look at what the salon down the street is currently doing is a serious mistake. There is no reason to struggle in this industry. If you are operating based on not paying yourself for the hours you work, you have a terrible plan and will probably never be able to pay yourself. Be prepared to succeed.

Here is a FREE business plan for ya. BS until you are blue int he face. Most financial companies look at this and chuckle int he back office over coffeee, coffee that you paid for.
Busines plans are nothing but wishful thinking and optimistic expectations for something you have no control over. They are, for the most part, a necessary joke!! |
