What are some of the start up costs that you forgot to consider?
What about monthly operating costs?

I feel like I am forgetting something in my plans.

Al the little things. They add up. Shelving, garbage cans, floor mats, cleaning supplies, towels....hmmm, I'm sure I'm forgetting what you're forgetting too.

I added 20% contingency to my build out plans for "ruh-roh... I forgot that!" items. Working out fine so far.

Whatever you come up with as "final" costs, double it!

One unexpected cost we encountered was a deposit equal to the average electric bill...something like $700. Also, we've spent more on marketing than we budgeted, and more on "supplies".

Don't forget to disable (900)#'s on the phone and internet PRON. Both can get expensive quite quick.

Decorations and posters are always extras that are forgotten. Cleaning supplies, an imbossing gun if you plan on holding lotions for customers and bins for the lotions.
Pens, clip boards, not pads, picture hangers, hooks for hanging other things, sample cups and covers and baskets for samples.

If you had a budget, double it for the extras.

Most of all make sure that your head is screwed on very tightly or else you'll forget that too.
