Christetan....how big is your market? How many salons are in your area? How many beds are you opening with...? What month are you opening? What is your opening budget?

I am opening in a town of 35,000 next door to a 1 million pop city, I have about a 30000 budget set aside for marketing, i am doing the free tanning thing im going to be doing it for a week, and if they spent over a certain dollar amount they then get another week free without using a package, on our grand opening day, a week after on a saturday from the day we open our doors (early september) we are gonna have food drinks chamber of commerce ribbon cutting thing and pass out thank you cards with like the coupons for 5-10 dollars. What else, where should i advertise, radio, I was thinking about giving the radio stations free 1 month passes to hand out in the mornings or something as like prizes to trivia questions, like 3 or 4. I was gonna do a mailer to poeple to say hey were here and newspaper ads to run for two weeks.

WHAT ELSE, I need all the help I can get, if you read anything up here that you think is silly or stupid or wont work let me know also, you guys are veterans, Im only starting out, any wisdom would be appreciated

give 50% off your lotions for a short period of time, (sellig at cost) so you
wont loose anything..... good bait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this point in time, we are trying to make as much profit as we can (the heat advisories we've been having don't help!). Do you think giving 30% off is still a good incentive??

We ran a tan for $1 at our grand opening. Then offered our 1 year packages. It was a huge success. No radio advertising. Just flyers around town. To date that was are largest sales month. Oh by the way, the $1 tan was base level beds only.
