We have a Volkswagon. It is a fantastic car and the engineering is awesome. When it needs service almost nobody can do it and the ones who can are outrageous. Do you run into similar problems with companies like UWE, Ergoline etc.?

Most bed techs can work on most units. However getting parts is another issue with some companies most are great. But the past couple months Ergoline parts have been taking to long to get. They are making changes in the Company but that may improve. So to answer you question I would not really worry about that. I would worry about how good of service the company has to offer, how well the bed tans, air flow in the bed, what is the company track record.

I have one from england and LOVE it!!! the only problem we had was no a/c and my ac guy figured it out in 2 minutes cost me $55. for service call and $70 for freon...they are shipped with NONE...as they are not allowed to fly with it...he had to install a line and add a valve to fill and we had nice cold a/c in our bed in 20 minutes... they were great on the phone also and my part came in like 3 days for something else to make compatable with my t-max....I am very happy with mine...If I or my electrician can help in any way please email me...we can help ya...

Most (all?) of the European have major operations Stateside. Depending on your area and the company, you may be dealing directly with the "factory" here or may be going through a distributor or branch. That will ultimately determine the level and speed of service, but in general, not an issue for either UWE or Ergo.
